Drayton Bird’s newsletters have been absolutely invaluable to me starting and continuing my business. His tips, along with watching Gok Wan have led me to create JNS Match. It’s tough for a jeweller to survive on a niche market of one-off quirky pieces (you can only buy a small latte instead of a large) so JNS Match is aimed to appeal to a wide market from young to old (mature as my Dad would say).

Diana’s shop is based in Ilkley across from the award winning Lishman’s. Her chocolates have a distinct caramel taste and are gorgeous – try the lips and tell her Jeanette the Jeweller recommended them – it won’t get you a discount but it will make Diana happy. She also makes cakes and has made them for people all over the country.

My favourite deli anywhere is Weeton’s in Harrogate www.weetons.com (their website is a bit slow at times though).

Not only do they sell the best crisps – Yorkshire Crisps, the best fudge and gorgeous breads and cheeses but my husband’s favourite Ginger Beer.

On certain days you can even see me, my Dad (sneaking small pieces of biscuit to my dog and thinking I can’t see) and my dog (waiting for falling morsels) having a latté or hot choc outside (watching the 4 by 4s and their occupants – it’s a great spot for people watching).
